Where Am I In My Cycle? Understanding the Power of Your Hormones:
Hormones control every single aspect of your health and metabolic function. This means that when hormones become disrupted, it can leave you struggling with symptoms such as fatigue, headaches, brain fog, and trouble sleeping. All of which can impact how you show up for your business and family.
If you’re trying to learn How to Be More Impactful At Work, then focus on what might be happening in your body first. To unlock the power of your hormones, you must start by understanding your hormone phases and how they influence your day to day. So, you might be wondering where am I in my cycle throughout the month. Well, it’s broken out into the 4 phases below:
Where Am I In My Cycle?
Menstrual Phase (days 1-5)
This is when your hormones are at their lowest and your body is shedding excess lining. Due to low hormone levels, it is natural to feel more tired, want more rest, and be a bit more introverted.
Follicular Phase (days 6-10)
Your body is now preparing an egg for ovulation, so your estrogen begins to rise. Estrogen is your energy hormone. It increases energy, improves metabolic rate, increases confidence and so much more. It’s natural during this time to feel creative and excited about new possibilities.
Ovulatory Phase (days 11-15)
Estrogen and testosterone peak to help your body release the egg for ovulation. Due to this spike, your energy is through the roof! You feel excited, extroverted, and extremely confident.
Luteal Phase (days 16-28)
After ovulation, estrogen and testosterone drop, and progesterone starts to increase. Progesterone is your “pro-gestation” hormone and helps your body prepare for potential conception. This can leave you feeling a bit more reserved, and introspective, and your productivity skyrockets as you are able to buckle down and focus.
How to Be More Impactful At Work With Cycle-Syncing
Optimize Your Work Day
When you understand these fluctuations you can start to plan work tasks to align with these strengths. Rather than trying to force creativity, you can align your planning to when you are feeling the most creative. Or plan more detail-oriented administration tasks when your brain is primed for this type of work.
This is how you can optimize your work schedule to get the most out of your days:
Menstrual Phase (days 1-5)
This is a great time to reflect on your month and review your successes and challenges. Conducting evaluations, evaluating systems, and reflecting on growth goals can help you set yourself up for an amazing month. Take the time to think about the goals that you set for the month and how they manifested. Allowing yourself the space to assess your work will help you develop a strong game plan for moving forward in the month to come.
Follicular Phase (days 6-10)
As estrogen begins you rise, so does your energy and creativity. You feel inspired and are ready to take on the world. This is the perfect time to brainstorm new projects, plan events, or write down ideas for social media content. Capitalize on these creative juices! Due to the rise in estrogen, you are not super detail-oriented at this time, so try not to force it. Rather focus on writing down big ideas and planning new projects to chase your growth. You will hammer down the details in the luteal phase.
Ovulatory Phase (days 11-15)
Estrogen and testosterone peak at this time meaning you should feel on top of the world. Your energy is high and so is your communication and desire to socialize. This is the perfect time to speak at events, host conferences, schedule check-ins with staff, and attend networking events. Leverage your desire to connect to build stronger relationships.
Luteal Phase (days 16-28)
As progesterone increases, you become more focused and productive. This is the time to work on planning and administration to see the big plans and ideas from your follicular phase through. Focus on crushing your to-do list, organizing your calendar, and balancing your books. You have the ability to sit down and focus to get the details finalized, so use this.
